Ode to Color

There is an art form (?) that is taking over Pinterest. One day, I was feeling especially crafty and decided to do it. But because I'm me, I can't follow directions exactly. It goes against my DNA.

The craft is this, to take crayons, glue them to the top of a canvas, and then take a blow dryer and melt those suckers. The end result for the usual craft looks like this:

Cool, right?

I wanted to do a circle (I'm kind of obsessed with circles right now. I really want my wedding invites to be circular. Don't steal my idea.). Here is my result:

I didn't use enough yellow and I probably let all the colors run into each other too much in the middle. Oh well. I also had to take the crayons off because the crayons I used were in particularly crappy condition, so they didn't look very good still stuck on there. I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not. I just did it on poster board, maybe I'll do 50 more until I can get a master piece.

All in all, super easy fun craft that makes you feel like a kid again.

In the Trees

If a tree falls down in the forest, with no one around, does it make a noise? Better yet, what happens when crazy smart Japanese people create a giant xylophone made from wood, put it in the forest, and roll a ball down it - does it make noise? The answer is that someone is filming the whole thing, so yes, it does. Watch and be astounded. If you can't figure out the song, it's Bach's Jesu Joy of a Man's Desiring (one of my all time favorite songs to boot).

Coloring with Water

As per special request, I am posting some of my watercolor paintings. Stokes, if you are reading this, don't judge. This is the first watercolor class I have ever taken. These aren't all the ones I've done, just the ones that are decent enough to post. There are some more, which will be posted when I get them back. And these were just taken with my cell phone, so pretend the color is better.

This last one that I did is my favorite, the reason it looks a lot better than the other two is because it is an "emulation" piece, meaning we found a watercolor painting we liked and copied it. I enjoyed watercolor at the beginning, but now I'm just frustrated with it. It's the perfectionist in me. One of the hardest things is trying to figure out what to paint. So if you have any good resources of stuff you think I should paint, let me know. I might give you a cookie.
